the donkey’s tale

I’ve seen it all, I’ve seen it all,
while waiting, stood against this wall,
still waiting here come spring, come fall,
just waiting for my Master’s call.

All donkeys wait, all donkeys wait,
our sad eyes look and contemplate,
each face that passes, ’tis our fate,
to see Him – we’ll not hesitate.

Each jen and jack, each jen and jack,
to gladly bear Him down the track,
no matter what, to hell and back,
with bridle slack, with bridle slack.

I’m just an ass, I’m just an ass,
but all His Glory will amass,
I’ll wait here patient ’till the last,
and all He promised comes to pass.

I’ve seen it all, I’ve seen it all
while waiting, stood against this wall
I’m waiting here come spring, come fall
just waiting for the Master’s call
